CNC machining milling turning parts OEM
Product Description
CNC MILLING IS A machining process suitable for producing high precision, high tolerance parts on the prototype, single-use and small to medium scale production runs. Although parts are typically manufactured to tolerances between +/ -2 wire and +/ -10 wire, some milling machines can achieve tolerances up to +/ -1 wire or even higher. The versatility of the milling process allows it to be used in a wide range of industries and for a variety of part features and designs, including slots, chamfers, threads, and cavities. The most common CNC milling operations include:
End face milling
Plane milling
The angle of the milling
Forming milling
End face milling
Face milling in which the axis of rotation of the cutting tool is perpendicular to the workpiece surface. This method uses a face milling cutter with teeth on both the periphery and the tool face, where the periphery teeth are mainly used for cutting and the face teeth are used for finishing applications. In general, face milling is used to create a flat surface and profile on the finished piece and is able to produce a higher quality finish than other milling processes. Both vertical and horizontal milling machines support this process.
The types of end milling include end mills and side mills, which use end mills and side mills, respectively.
Plane milling
Planar milling, also known as surface milling or plate milling, in which the axis of rotation of the cutting tool is parallel to the surface of the workpiece. This process uses ordinary milling cutter teeth to perform the cutting operation on the periphery. Depending on the specification of the milling application, such as cutting depth and workpiece size, narrow and wide knives can be used. Narrow knives can be used for deeper cuts, while wide knives can be used to cut larger surface areas. If a flat milling application requires the removal of large amounts of material from the workpiece, the operator first uses a coarse-toothed milling cutter, a slow cutting rate, and a fast feed rate to produce an approximate geometry of the custom-designed part. The operator then introduces a finer-toothed tool, faster-cutting speed, and slower feed rate to produce the details of the finished part.
The angle of the milling
Angle milling refers to the rotation axis of the cutting tool at a certain angle with respect to the workpiece surface. The process uses single-angle milling cutters (angled according to the specific design being machined) to produce angular features such as chamfers, serrations, and grooves. A common application of Angle milling is dovetail production, where dovetail milling cutters of 45°, 50°, 55°, or 60° are used depending on the dovetail design.
Forming milling
Forming milling refers to milling operations involving irregular surfaces, contours, and contours, such as parts with curved and flat surfaces or fully curved surfaces. The process uses shaped milling cutters or flying cutters designed for specific applications, such as convex, concave, and fillet cutters. Some common applications of molding milling include the production of hemispherical and semicircular cavities, beads, and contours through single-machine Settings, as well as complex designs and complex parts.
